Maori Art

Today we looked at some different Maori designs and we designed our own piece of art using pastels. We added these along with our proverbs to our Cultural Wall. Please take a look next time you visit us.

Celebrating Maori Language Week

In Room 5 we unpacked the daily proverbs and wrote our ideas along side them. We thought very hard about what the words meant to us.

Native Bush

Room 5 enjoyed our Inquiry Learning topic- Native Bush.

We made our own Native Bush Wall and chose creatures that live in the bush and wrote stories about them. We had lots we wanted to know and wrote our questions on post it notes. After researching and listening to lots of stories we found the answers to our questions and recorded our answers in small groups. Then we shared  our findings back to the class.

We wrote some great recounts about our visit to the Botanic Gardens. Feel free to come and read them. We had a great trip and learned lots about trees.
We pretended to be parts of a tree and make fun sounds.

Poetry Recital

Congratulations to Manu, Sam and Jordan on becoming Room 5 finalists for the Junior Poetry Festival.
Everyone worked very hard. It was a hard decision with so many confident speakers. All students should be proud of their achievements.

We hope you enjoy watching our performances. Mrs Hood videoed us and we watched ourselves on video and gave each other feed back and feed forward to help us improve.

Book Week Parade

Room 5 had a lot of fun during Book Week. We made dust covers, emoji bookmarks, went on a scavenger hunt, matched books to teachers and dressed up for the parade. Congratulations to  Jordan and Sam for being voted best costumes by Mr Kelly and Mrs Kandasamy
